The Senior Accountant, Gift and Foundation Accounting, is an experienced professional responsible for complex accounting, analysis, and financial reporting tasks related to all of the balance sheet and income statement accounts for the UC San Diego Foundation and all gift funds on campus. Under the general oversight of the Controller/Sr. Director, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and preparing financial analysis and reports from complex data and information, preparing and posting journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal close, and reconciliation of financial activity to ledgers for monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial records, with a heavy emphasis on investments and endowment accounting, all in accordance with GAAP and GASB accounting requirements. Must use the common chart of accounts as designed for the Foundation and the campus in Oracle and perform the same accounting responsibilities as they pertain to the campus gift and endowment funds. The incumbent is responsible for participating in and initiating when applicable, process improvement, policy development, and review of financial transactions for compliance with GASB accounting standards. The incumbent will research and provide routine fiscal advice and guidance to faculty, department fund administrators and Principal Investigators related to Regents and Foundation gift funds. Uses professional accounting concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of accounting practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve complex assignments where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. Exercises judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Normally receives general instructions, with detailed instructions provided on complex new assignments and initiatives. Has contact with internal and external resources on a regular basis. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Working knowledge of computers and excellent software skills required. Nearly all functions and tasks of this position rely heavily on proven accounting and "hands-on" computer skills; proficiency in a computerized environment is a key element to success in this position. High proficiency in the use of Excel and Word within a Windows environment is required. Due to the complexity of the integrated fund accounting software, requires high-level analytical ability to ensure that the integrity of the accounting system is maintained and appropriate funds are affected. Transactions in pooled funds require analysis of the effect on individual funds and of the proper accounting for such transactions. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
