This is a 1.0 FTE, 12-month position.

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for a High Impact Practices (HIP) Coordinator position. LSBE is searching for HIP Coordinator who will manage and expand our curricular and co-curricular engagement with local and regional communities and organizations. The HIP Coordinator will work with faculty and employers to build learning opportunities for LSBE students in all majors. This position will develop relationships with community partners and build opportunities for LSBE students to engage with them as appropriate. Additionally, the HIP Coordinator will work with student clubs and manage the LSBE Passport Program. The HIP Coordinator is a 12-month, full-time, on-campus, Civil Service position. The position requires some work during evening and weekend hours and travel to throughout the region.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications on Jan. 6th.

Job duties/responsibilities:
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Course-embedded Community-Based Learning and other HIPs (45%):
    • Identify and recruit community partners and organizations for collaboration
    • Recruit and support faculty to build community-based learning in their course offerings
    • Serve as the primary liaison for the community organizations seeking collaboration with LSBE on student projects
    • Establish formal agreements and an onboarding process for community partners
    • Provide logistical support to faculty participating in community-based learning projects
    • Provide support for other High Impact practices (as needed and feasible)
  • Company Days (10%):
    • Identify, recruit, and schedule companies to participate
    • Manage all communications related to the visits
    • Organize class visits
    • Manage all "the day of" tasks related to the visits
  • LSBE's Not-for-Profit Societal Impact Initiative (10%)
    • Serve as the primary liaison between LSBE and non-profits participating in the initiative
    • Provide logistical support for activities related to the initiative
  • Student Clubs (5%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for LSBE's student organizations
    • Train student club leadership on best practices for running student organizations
    • Assist student clubs with securing speakers, industry contacts, and service projects
  • Passport Program (15%)
    • Manage all aspects of LSBE's Passport program
  • Summer Institute (10%)
    • Recruit and schedule companies to participate in corporate visits
    • Assist with the Summer Institute activities
  • Miscellaneous (5%)
    • Supervise a student worker
    • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to travel independently to visit with current and prospective organizational partners.
  • Ability to work regular business hours and some evenings and weekends.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business or related field or professional certification in a business-related
    field (e.g., CPA, CFP, CMA, SHRM-CP).
  • Experience coordinating student or community programs.
  • Experience in corporate relationship building.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for large groups and one-on-one interactions.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse students or youth, colleagues, and/or
    communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to achieve broad goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and set direction of work to meet goals while using
    sound judgement and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
About the Department

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) is AACSB-International accredited and housed in a state-of-the-art building. Approximately 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in the school's programs. There are 50+ full-time faculty members in four academic departments: Accounting and Finance, Economics and Health Care Management, Management Studies, and Marketing. The School offers a Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through the Bureau of Business and Economic Research activities. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21 to $28 an hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
