Department Information
The Student and Campus Event Centers at Georgia Institute of Technology are dedicated to enhancing the student experience by providing a wide range of programs, services, and facilities. Our mission is to foster a vibrant campus community through the coordination and support of student activities, leadership development, and event management.

We oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents, managing the operation of programming spaces and advising programming board committees. Our team interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta community.

Key components of our department include:

  • Student Leadership Development: We advise students in planning large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs through the student event programming board.
    Event Management: Our staff advises student event planners through one-on-one meetings, committee meetings, and on-site event execution.
  • Collaboration and Engagement: We promote interactions between faculty and students, foster collaboration among students, enhance campus and civic engagement, and ease both the academic and social transition to college.
  • Our department is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging environment that supports the holistic development of our students. We strive to provide opportunities for students to connect with one another, their campus, and the broader community.
Job Summary

The Student Center Program Adv role will oversee the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for all students and other campus constituents by managing the operation of a programming space or service and advising programming board committees. Student Leadership Development is a key component of
the position.

This position interacts with students, student leaders, student employees, registered student organizations, fellow staff members in the department, staff members across campus, faculty, and external clients in the Atlanta Community

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1
Advise students in the planning of large-scale social, educational, traditions, and stress-relief programs for students through the student event programming board. This staff position will advise student event planners through 1:1 meetings, committee meetings, and by being on-site to lead the execution of all assigned events. This position will advise three to four student committees in event management, logistics, and risk management and mitigation for programming for all of campus.

Job Duty 2
Manage the daily operations of a programming space or service. Establish policies and procedures for customers and staff to ensure a smooth and seamless operation. Ensure that exceptional customer service is provided in the management of reservations for various client groups using the space or service and create business plans to generate revenue for these spaces and services.

Job Duty 3
Hiring, onboarding, training and supervision of student employees, focusing on leadership development, evaluation of student employees, and enhancing the institute experience through employment.

Job Duty 4
Maintaining a facility or technology platform and related equipment. Working with related vendors to ensure a successful and seamless operation for customers.

Job Duty 5
Tracking and monitoring programming budgets and operating budgets. Generate revenue to cover operational and programming expenses. Procurement of necessary operating and programming supplies in a timely fashion. Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and performers.

Job Duty 6
Promote and advertise the use of programs, spaces, or services via marketing and communications channels available. Plan and execute programs and special events to showcase spaces and services.

Job Duty 7
Work closely with other program professionals to assess student programming needs for Georgia Tech Students and establish the overall philosophy and direction of the programs for students at the institute.

Job Duty 8
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Two to four years of job related experience

  • Student Programming or Activities Experience

Ability to generate and articulate ideas about student development, student staff supervision, and volunteer recruitment and engagement; strong interpersonal, communications and organizational skills
