Job Summary

Develop and implement safety programs to provide for continuous improvement and effectiveness of the Safety Management System. Effect, document and maintain procedures to identify the Occupational Safety and Health aspects of activities and services. Develop and deliver training programs in compliance with policy, procedures, regulations and standards to provide the safety of students and staff. Develop the Return to Work Program, to improve efficiency by reducing lost work time due to illness or injuries. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Individuals in all departments in both academic and administration/finance divisions of the Institute. This position will typically advise and counsel: faculty, staff, students and Safety Specialist. This position will supervise: Safety Specialist.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop Safety Management System, including Comprehensive Loss Control Program components: write safety procedures, implement plans, maintain records.

Job Duty 2 -
Manage OSHA 3 injury logs, mandated by the US Department of Labor. Work closely with DOAS Workers Compensation and Georgia Tech Risk Management. Track all injury-related incidents and conduct investigations to determine root causes/proactive measures; develop injury trend analysis.

Job Duty 3 -
Develop safety training content and deliver presentations; assess the safety training needs of staff and students.

Job Duty 4 -
Identify Occupational Safety Risks; develop Job Hazard Analysis system; conduct Risk Assessments; identify ongoing hazards in all occupations/operations; conduct Ergonomic Assessments.

Job Duty 5 -
Conduct periodic Safety inspections.

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 10, OSHA 30
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience documenting and tracking safety inspection schedules, findings, and activities
  • Proficient with maintaining comprehensive safety inspection checklists; ability to leverage those provided from Institute Environmental Health & Safety

SKILLS
knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations; position requires the ability to assess complex operations, recommend appropriate safety controls, and effectively interact with faculty, staff and employees at every level in the organization

Anticiapted annual salary $86,136.00 to $117,145.00 commensurate with qualifications
