Position Summary
Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center ( LCCC) has created a Pre-Award Grant Development Office that works with over 100 Principal Investigators (PIs) to submit a variety of research proposals including federal, foundation, and private industry sponsors. The Pre-Award Team Lead an integral part of the LCCC Research Development Group, supervising and managing UNC LCCC's Pre-Award unit. This position will directly manage the pre-award group. We expect this group to grow as new PIs are recruited to UNC and additional specialized research programs are developed at LCCC. The Pre-Award Team Lead will report to the Director of Research Development. They will oversee all functions of the pre-award team to ensure they run smoothly. This position will interface directly with PIs to ensure their pre-award needs are being met. They will be expected to troubleshoot problems as they occur and independently work with PIs, the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Sponsored Programs Office, and Grant Sponsors as appropriate. The Pre-Award Team Lead will directly mentor all members of the team to ensure that current guidelines are being followed in the submission of proposals. This position will be required to look for and implement constant improvements in the delivery of pre-award services to LCCC PIs. This position will review and approve all outgoing proposals to ensure compliance with Sponsor submission guidelines. They will also review all proposals that need LCCC approval from other departments. They will work with the supervisors to ensure that workloads are spread equitably across team members. In addition, this position will have a small PI portfolio of their own to submit grants.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Mid- to late-career with Masters and 2- 4 yrs experience; Bachelors and 3-5 yrs experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of award management experience.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Degree related in business area. Supervisory experience is preferred.
