Clinical Engineer, Full Time Day Shift

POSITION SUMMARY:

To inspect, maintain, and perform complex and routine repairs to medical equipment throughout all hospital facilities using basic and specialized test equipment and tools to ensure medical equipment is in good working order and safe to be used on patients. Operates complex test equipment and functions as technical resource for department staff.

EDUCATION:

Associates degree in Electronic/Biomedical Engineering or equivalent preferred. Special training provided by equipment manufacturer.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience required.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems to component and assembly level.Ability and qualification to service life support equipment.Ability to service Diagnostic Imaging Equipment.Ability to troubleshoot and repair wired and wireless computer networks.Ensures that all Diagnostic Imaging equipment is working properly on a daily basis.Repairs and services equipment whenever a breakdown is reported by staff technologist with priorities cited by D.I. Management and Management of Clinical Engineering.Provides preventive maintenance on Diagnostic Imaging Equipment based on schedule coordinated with D.I. Management and Clinical Engineering Department Management.Maintains records of all repairs, parts, changes and replacement of existing D.I. equipment.Responsible for the care, maintenance and utilization of all testing equipment.Ensures that most frequently needed spare parts are always on hand.Participates in the orientation of In-service Education of D.I. technical staff and students.Shares knowledge and expertise with other Clinical Engineering employees.Is responsible for emergency repairs, evenings, weekends and holidays.Performs operational verification and calibration of PACS monitors on a regular basis.Responsible for maintaining and submitting maintenance and assembly reports, as required by Joint Commission, FDA, and State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.Is responsible for preparing Request to Purchase forms for equipment and parts as needed and is to confirm the receipts of these items with D.I. Management.Supervises and coordinates the use of outside service organizations when required.Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.Ability to communicate effectively (oral and in writing).Ability to effectively interact with customers to meet their needs.Ability to work cooperatively as a team member.Ability to resolve conflicts and problematic situations.Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments.Ability to effectively prioritize the work load and complete all assignments in a timely manner.Ability to use discretion in confidential matters.Driver's License - current and valid New Jersey driver's license.Employees must adhere to all procedural guidelines in HR policy 1-13 including demonstrating an acceptable driving record for the duration of their employment as long as driving continues to be a responsibility of the job.Provides on-call coverage on a scheduled basis, in emergency situations and when requested by department management.Participates in the hospital's performance improvement process to continuously improve the quality of patient care and service delivery.
