Sonographer - 32 hrs./week - Prenatal

Under limited supervision, operates sophisticated, multi-modal ultrasound equipment to obtain quality ultrasonic images. Performs and records obstetrical/genetic ultrasound diagnostic tests.

Education:
Completion of a one (1) year ultrasound training program at an approved school of diagnostic imaging or a minimum of two (2) years of supervised on-the-job training.

Licensures/Certifications:
* Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).
* Must have passed or be eligible for a qualifying examination given by an appropriate credentialing agency.

Experience:
Two years obstetrical/genetic experience

Skills:
* Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and families who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and fellow employees.
* Communication skills in order to exchange information on a professional basis with fellow professional, non-professional, and ancillary personnel.
* Analytical skills necessary to determine the best method of providing requested obstetrical/genetic ultrasound exams based on the specifics of the individual case.
* Ability to detect pathology based on knowledge of physiologic causes and effects of diseases.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs all phases of obstetrical/genetic ultrasound examinations utilizing a high degree of technical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology. Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized and differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes. Performs routine measurements and calculations.
* Sets up, adjusts, manipulates and controls the use of all conventional obstetrical/genetic ultrasound, data processing and ancillary equipment required for diagnostic ultrasound procedures and reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or needed repairs; recognizes and trouble shoots equipment malfunctions.
* Directs and practices Universal Precautions for prevention of cross-contaminations.
* Consults with referring physicians regarding medical history of the patient, discusses appropriate procedures required, maintains records and/or technical notations on each case as required by regulatory agencies and insures files and records are properly completed with correct information.
* Insures immediate and accurate verification of charge code information into the appropriate computer system and determines the diagnostic efficacy and completeness of each examination.
* Demonstrates and assists in instruction of obstetrical/genetic ultrasound exams and hospital procedures to other technical, non-professional and ancillary personnel.

Pay Range

$31.32 - $51.36

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
