Clinic Assistant - (Part-Time/Temporary)

General Summary of Position:

University of Massachusetts, Lowell has an exciting opening for a part-time Clinic Assistant (10 hours/week) to provide administrative, technical, creative, data management, and operational support for Counseling Services, a department of the UMass Lowell Wellness Center.

This position will provide assistance to the Director of Counseling Services in scheduling, planning events, maintaining counseling spaces, ordering supplies, budgeting, and updating policies and procedures. In addition, the Clinic Assistant will update the Counseling Services electronic medical records (EMR) with confidential documentation, provider availability, and scanned documents. The Clinic Assistant will take notes at staff meetings and clinical meetings where sensitive and confidential clinical information is discussed. Moreover, the Clinic Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to, maintain, and update our web site and social media activities.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a warm, collaborative, highly ethical, detail-oriented, creative, organized, motivated and technically savvy. They will be a valued non-clinical member of our team. This position will involve exposure to highly sensitive and confidential information about students including topics such as suicidality, trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual assault, and experiences of oppression. The ability to hear and interact with this type of information with professionalism, sensitivity, and respect is crucial.

This position pays $25/hour and all work hours are on campus at UMass Lowell Counseling Services. The initial contract extends until June 30, 2025 with a possibility of renewal for the following academic year.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):



  • Bachelor's degree in office/business administration, psychology, counseling, social work, health education or related field.*
    *Will consider candidates with an Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant experience or a HS diploma or GED/equivalent and 4 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Skills including: attention to detail, organization, time management, multitasking, prompt and effective written and oral communication, efficiency, flexibility, adaptability, professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all matters involving or pertaining to UMass Lowell students.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in a health care setting.
  • Experience or interest in the field of mental health care.
  • Experience using EMR software.
